SWEET AS SUGAR. SEXY AS SIN . . .
Carly Taylor is pretty sure she's dreaming. It's not possible that Sam Weiss - rock star god and sexy hotness personified - is actually in her bakery. This sort of thing never happens in the too-small town of Haven. Or to her. And being stranded in a secluded mountain cabin with the deliciously decadent Sam during an ice storm? This is definitely not Carly's real life . . .

Now there's just the two of them, a roaring fire, lots of food and drink, and a sizzling attraction - one that just might make Carly do the unexpected. For one night, she'll live the fantasy. For one night, nothing else matters. . . not her struggling business, not her lonely life, not Sam's bad-boy reputation. But sometimes one night can turn one crazy, beautiful dream into something real.

Not your usual rock star romance.
This is a quick and sexy read featuring a rock star who, for once, isn't a tortured soul doing drugs, getting drunk, and using women. Sam is a sexy hero but I liked that he isn't the stereotypical rock star that usually isn't my cup of tea in romance books. He was actually quite adorable. Carly was a bit of a surprise, as at first she seemed like a responsible and shy woman, but then she did a 180 and lived in the moment, without thinking about the consequences or the future. It was unexpected but I enjoyed watching her change because of her attraction to Sam.
Since it's a short read, their attraction escalated pretty quickly, in a sort of insta-love kind of way, so there wasn't much room for courting or inkling of doubts about their attraction. There are some graphic sex scenes that describe their nights together in detail, and I guess the story would have worked just as well without those scenes. But the characters, the plot, and the small-town setting make up for that and made me want to keep reading. It would be nice to see these two characters in other books in the series.

Rock with You Risking It All edition by Rachel Lacey Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

Rock with You by Rachel Lacey....A perfect short story when you are trying to escape a long day. Rachel Lacey packs a full story into a novella about a rocker and a bakery girl. I loved Carly and Sam they are so cute together and so much sizzle between each other. This book made me smile, Carly is so funny. I was given a complimentary book by publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.
Risking it All is a short novella that serves are a prequel to Lacey's Risking It All series, which includes a book I read last month, Run to You. Although the two books aren't tied together all that much, Risking it All introduces us to the small town of Haven and to baker Carly, who appears in Risking it All. Although quite short, I enjoyed this snowed-in romance a lot! Carly and Sam are likable characters with great conversation and chemistry. The drama-free story moves fast and is super enjoyable.
Rock with You is an amazing read. It is short yet very sweet. Carly and Sam truly make beautiful music together. I laughed and had heart swooning moments. The characters were amazing. This book had a steady pace you could enjoy. I really loved the story. Average girl meets famous rock star. Carly and Sam are perfect.

Rachel Lacey is an amazing author. Her writing style is bold and passionate. She has all the elements that make for an amazing writer. This is my first book of hers and I can say it won't be the last. I highly recommend this book.
Carly is the quintessential girl next door. She is struggling to keep the bakery that she inherited from her grandmother afloat. Nothing exciting ever happens in New Haven, until the day a certain customer walks in the door. She knows it's a rock star that she loves. But what's he doing in New Haven?

Sam's agent sent him to New Haven to hide out after some bad publicity & to finish the songs for his new album. Nothing is working & feeling claustrophobic, he dons a disguise & goes into town. How can he be attracted to the one girl who sees through his disguise?

This book was an enjoyable quick read & is an excellent start to Rachel's new series. The characters are well developed & likable & the plot moves quickly which is characteristic of a novella. I found the premise sweet & enjoyable.

Quick Summary
Rock Star Sam Weiss is in small town Haven, North Carolina to clear his head, stay out of the spotlight, and write some new music. Too bad the lyrics haven't been cooperating lately....until he goes in to A Piece of Cake bakery and meets it's owner, Carly Taylor. When a last minute bakery delivery strands Carly at Sam's place right as an ice storm hits, things really start to heat up. But what will happen when the storm passes and reality sets in?

What I Liked
This is a short one (about 80 pages) so it's of course insta-love for these two; however this does not bother me as sometimes a quick love story is all I need. I'm happy to say that Sam is a great hero and there's no jerk rock stars in this one! This is a pet peeve of mine and I was briefly worried but hoped that based on Rachel Lacey's previous books, that it wouldn't be an issue. Sam and Carly have a great connection and when they go their separate ways they realize they don't want to be apart. I look forward to more from this series.

What I Didn’t Like
I just wish it could have been longer!
This is the first book I have read by Rachel Lacey and I was excited for the chance. Only a few sentences in and I was invested in Carly Taylor’s story. She loves to bake and is a dreamer, she is kind and quiet. She also has a predictable life until rocker Sam Weiss orders a late night delivery from her bakery. I loved that she didn’t do deliveries yet when Sam asked she was out braving an ice storm just for him. No she did think she would be back in plenty of time to curl up in her warm house, until the icy roads showed her a different outcome. Carly ends up stuck in a hose with the sexiest man as far as she is concerned. Sure she is nervous but she doesn’t think it’ll be so bad. She is not Sam’s type and as soon as the road clear she can head home, no harm done.
Sam and Carly are a lot of fun to read, they are both full of life and know what they want. Sam has his success and Carly is working on hers, you can see the sparks, yet you can see the trouble too. This novella gets you sucked into the town of Haven and makes you want to know more. It is a taste of what might be brewing with the town folk, and the family feel. Rachel does a great job with her descriptions and connections without telling too much. You know it’s a HEA but you don’t know when or how it could possibly happen. That is what makes this book ROCK! So get curled up in a soft spot and start reading!
